My name is Khalil Lucas, professionally known as KRL. I am an artist, producer, songwriter, and rapper with a lifelong connection to music and hip-hop culture. I began writing music at eight years old, shaped early by studio exposure through my grandmother, a touring house singer, my father, a hip-hop artist, and my local community.
By high school, music became a serious pursuit through lunch room cyphers, making songs with friends, and learning to play instruments like the piano, which led to beat-making and a deeper understanding of musical structure. Early on influenced by artists such as Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, alongside legends like André 3000, Jay-Z, Tupac, and Biggie-to name a few. I fell in love with hip-hop’s ability to tell honest stories and reflect culture.
My music centers on faith, perseverance, and self-examination—creating space for reflection, encouragement, and growth. I aim to make music that feels grounded, intentional, and timeless rather than trend-driven.
